Free opinion writing masterclass for 16-18 year olds
📝 🎤 Political opinion writing competition and masterclass
The Guardian Foundation's political opinion writing competition is about to open and they are running a free political opinion masterclass workshop for young people on 24 January at 4:30 - 6:00pm on Zoom.
This virtual workshop will get entrants ready for the competition, giving them the best chance of winning and some of the skills needed to be a great opinion writer. It will be hosted by journalist and author Erica Buist.

UAL Insights is the UAL’s outreach programme offering young people access to their Colleges for creative activities and pre-university advice - exclusively for Year 12 students at Global Academy.
Students must meet one or more of the following criteria to apply:
students whose parent(s) or guardian(s) have not completed a university degree
students who live in a priority postcode area (using the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), areas in deciles 1 to 4)
students whose families receive benefits for living costs (including Universal Credit, Child Tax Credit, Free School Meals, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Income-based Job Seekers Allowance and Pupil Premium)
looked after children and care leavers.

Sky are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail and passion for current affairs to join Sky News as Production Coordinator.
What you'll do:
Coordinate and book production crew, talent and studio resources.
Work with Head of Studios, Events Team and News Output to schedule daily shoots, prerecords and live events across multiple studios.
Work with project teams to ensure resource is available and assigned as required.
Devise and manage a suitable booking system to work across all platforms.
Be the main point of contact for the team for ad-hoc and last minute productions, supported by the Studio Managers, including visitor and room bookings and managing security passes. Liaise between clients with conflicting requests for Studio space, facilities or crew.
Collaborate with the outside broadcasting and events team – ensuring crewing, call sheets and logistics to allow for large broadcasts to run smoothly and efficiently.
2024 Bloomberg Apprenticeship: Media Production Level 4 (Global Production)
Bloomberg TV is a 24-hour global news channel covering politics, economics and finance. We provide markets news, data and analysis powered by more than 2700 journalists and analysts in more than 120 countries.
We are seeking a Broadcast Field Production Assistant to join the programme in London. This is an opportunity to work in a challenging, exciting and competitive, broadcast news environment. You will be working with our news-gathering team in our European Headquarters in London who organise outside broadcasts across the U.K., Europe, Middle East and Africa. From coordinating reporters hits in Westminster to multi-camera productions in Saudi Arabia, you will be assisting the team in putting together these exciting productions.
You will have a passion for news, television and technology. Our news-gathering team use state of the art equipment to make these productions work, so knowledge of cameras and the broadcast chain is ideal, but not required. You will gain experience within a newsroom environment, technology, understanding broadcast principles and more. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are passionate about creating great TV, then this programme could be perfect for you.
