Year 12 Work Experience with Industry Employers 🗣️

We have an exciting work experience opportunity for Year 12 students to get some interview practice next week.

We’ve got a chance for only 30 Year 12 students to get a 121 interview practice with employers from companies like BBC, Amazon, Facebook, Chanel 4 and more in a special in person workshop at Global Academy on Thursday afternoon.

They will also give you feedback on how you can improve your interview technique in the future.

Year 13 Careers Day on Thursday 🚀

Next Thursday - all Year 13s will head to Canon’s office in Stockley Park for our Careers Day to help kickstart your career between 9.15am - 12.00pm. There will be no lessons at Global Academy.

Please make sure you book your workshops by clicking the link below if you have not already done so!!!

Sessions include Creative Briefing, Design, Apprenticeships, Content Production, Social Media, CV Tips and Studio Experience.

Creative Opps Mentoring Programme 2024

The team at Creative Opps are currently recruiting our next cohort for 2024’s edition of Creative Opps’ flagship mentoring programme. We will be pairing 15 budding creatives, who are between the ages of 16 – 25 and have connections to the Islington area, with professionals that have long standing experience in the industry.

Ready to develop your animation skills from the comfort of your own home? Explore this incredible online, industry-led course with the studio that created Chicken Run, Shaun the Sheep, and Wallace and Gromit! For over 40 years, Aardman has entertained and charmed the world, creating much loved characters and bringing unforgettable stories to life. Aardman Academy is a team of Aardman directors, producers, creatives and educators committed to encouraging talent into the industry by delivering world-class animated-related courses and skills development.

Aardman is offering 4 fully-funded course spaces. Their Industry Training course Stop Motion 1 involves 12-weeks of online guided teaching, supported by weekly practical tasks and Mentoring to build the right foundations and practical skills in character animation, delivered by a team of highly experienced tutors and mentors. In addition to all of the brilliant online course content, you will also be sent a Stop Motion 1 Course Kit (for you to keep!)

UAL Insights is the UAL’s outreach programme offering young people access to their Colleges for creative activities and pre-university advice - exclusively for Year 12 students at Global Academy.

Students must meet one or more of the following criteria to apply:

  • students whose parent(s) or guardian(s) have not completed a university degree

  • students who live in a priority postcode area (using the Index of Multiple Deprivation (IMD), areas in deciles 1 to 4)

  • students whose families receive benefits for living costs (including Universal Credit, Child Tax Credit, Free School Meals, Housing Benefit, Income Support, Income-based Job Seekers Allowance and Pupil Premium)

  • looked after children and care leavers.

MARKETING APPRENTICESHIP AT GOOGLE

As an Apprentice at Google, you'll build the skills you need to be prepared for the future of work. You’ll join the Marketing teams at Google for the duration of your 15 month apprenticeship. You’ll start in October with an initial onboarding period, then you’ll attend workshops with our partner Multiverse. During the program you’ll join a Google team for 80% of your time and complete your apprenticeship the other 20% of the time.

You’ll support implementing a data driven approach to campaigns, either with our agency partners or supporting our clients. You’ll use your data insights to continuously improve these campaigns. You’ll also get to collaborate with our internal teams to find new opportunities and utilize data to demonstrate these opportunities are viable. You’ll get to flex your creativity to develop creative strategies for campaigns, assisting the teams responsible for some of Google’s biggest products.
